During a three-year collaborative process, the SAFE project has facilitated the development of a pan-European standard in the areas of event safety, security and crowd management education. In this dedicated ILMC session, key individuals involved in the project outline what it is, and how it applies to festivals and venues alike.

The Safe Project is an Erasmus+ funded initiative lead by PRODISS (France), which engages some of the most influential networks in the event sector in Europe, including the ILMC, the EAA (European Arena Association), BDKV (Bundesverband der Konzert- und Veranstaltungswirtschaft – Germany), Wallifornia Music Tech (Belgium), and many other associations, companies, festivals, venues and events.

The programmes were created by Laura Brands and Gerard van Duykeren (TSC), Chris Kemp (Mind over Matter) and Pascal Viot (iSSUE), with the help of a range of partners across Europe. The process pooled interdisciplinary expertise at a European level, and incorporated contributions from today’s leading specialists in event security and crowd management.

The SAFE project has been developed to enable festivals, venues and events across Europe to access education courses through which they can teach internal trainers to deliver quality programmes to their own staff.
