Steve Blake

Steve is an event safety, security and crowd safety specialist, and a founding director of STORM 4 Events Ltd ®, an event security, crowd safety and counterterrorism training and consultancy company.

Having over 40 years’ experience in the events and security industry, Steve has undertaken numerous senior roles, including safety, security and crowd management manager for the Tour de France 2014 (Stages One and Two of the UK Grand Depart), the world’s largest annual sporting event; at Glastonbury 2017 he formed part of the senior crowd safety team and in 2018; and was the safety and crowd management consultant role for the National Armed Forces Day National Event.

He is currently vice chair of the UKCMA (United Kingdom Crowd Management Association), a Member of the UKCMA Strategic Development Group; sits on the Event Industry Forum and the Security Industry Authority Event and Festival Group; and has just stepped down after three years from the IOSH Sports Ground and Events Group Committee.

Steve’s aim has always been to bring together the best of the private and public sectors to address the fundamental issues of the event security, crowd safety and counterterrorism sectors, and to deliver fit for purpose services, certifications, qualifications and training that meets the requirement of today’s standards and makes them ‘fit for the future’ whilst always bearing in mind that the delivery of the new and proposed changes due to covid and protect duties must be based in the reality of where we are as an industry, so as to provide a clear pathway to where we need to be.
