Anil Makhija is the COO of venues and service delivery at BookMyShow, India’s leading entertainment destination, which offers not just tickets for movies but also experiences across theatre, concerts, live events and sporting events.
With over three decades’ experience with technology, Anil moved to BookMyShow in 2013 in order to lead operations and service delivery verticals, while also overseeing the deployment of new onsite technologies.
Heading a customer experience team of over 200 people, along with the onsite operations team, Anil and his team have set themselves up to enable the usage of technology to enhance the entire user experience, without losing the human touch.
Prior to BookMyShow, Anil spent a long time with SKIDATA India, which specialises in parking solutions and revenue controls for ski resorts, stadia and event applications. Here he headed up planning strategy and business development, overseeing operations across the Indian subcontinent.
Prior to that, Anil worked with CA Satyam ASP, a JV between Computer Associates (US) & Satyam Computers (India) where he helped the firm revolutionise e-governance by providing integrated state-of-the-art technology solutions to solve common but deep-rooted administrative and governance problems. Anil’s primary focus was on building market share in the smart-card industry using RFID/NFC technologies, something that he later brought to BookMyShow. This experience has led to his ability to ensure seamless onsite consumer interactions at large-scale events.
When he’s not making waves with the next first-technology solution to ease event operations, Anil’s busy indulging his two passions of swimming and sailing, which remain his go-to activities to help keep him focused and balanced.
